SilvIA Earth joins the Science Park of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid

SilvIA Earth has joined the Incubation and Acceleration Programme of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. From now on we operate from C3N-IA, the UC3M Science Park, where we will keep working on the development of our wildfire risk prediction platform.

Our focus: predict, not detect

At SilvIA Earth we combine data from the Copernicus programme with artificial-intelligence models to estimate where the probability of a fire starting is concentrated, far enough in advance for land managers to act on those areas.

The difference with most available technologies is timing. Detection identifies the fire once it has started; prediction focuses on flagging the terrain before anything happens, while it can still be prevented.

Computing power, expertise and support

Joining C3N-IA is a real milestone for the development and refinement of SilvIA Earth.

In the same centre where we now work is the UC3M Scientific Computing Centre, inaugurated in December 2025 and ranked among the top 15% of the world's most powerful infrastructures according to the IO500 ranking: more than 11,500 CPU cores and 42 NVIDIA A40 GPUs, with high-performance computing services open to companies as well as to the research community. Having that capacity a few metres away changes the pace at which we can move forward.

Beyond the infrastructure, UC3M gives us access to the university's research groups, letting us work within a research ecosystem and supported by a team of professionals from C3N-IA.

Next steps

Joining the UC3M Science Park coincides with a phase of work focused on validating the model and developing pilots with public administrations. C3N-IA hosts technology-based companies at different stages and provides access to the UC3M research ecosystem, which is the environment where we want to keep refining our system.
